The term ‘human augmentation’ might make some of you think about cyborgs, or even Steve Austin, the bionic man. But in truth its an area of technological innovation that’s already a big part of our lives. Whether it’s contact lenses, hearing aids, prosthetic limbs or pacemakers, we humans have been adding tech to our bodies for many years. As we look to the future, this is set to have an even more dramatic impact on our lives. Last month I had the honour of hosting Kasperky Next, a virtual event looking to the future of human augmentation and other bleeding-edge innovations.
The highlight of the event was a panel with some amazing experts:
- Zoltan Istvan, Author and founder of the Transhumanist Party
- Julian Savulescu, Professor of Practical Ethics and chair of Oxford University’s Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics
- Marco Preuss & David Jacoby from Kaspersky’s Global Research & Analysis Team
I hope you enjoy watching the event and look forward to hearing your thoughts in Twitter @KateRussell |
