Send Anywhere

If you have a large file to send over the internet or transfer between your own devices without having to network them up, Send Anywhere, is a free peer-to-peer file transfer service that works through any browser and has apps for Android, iOS and a Chrome browser extension. The deal with peer-to-peer is the file goes straight down the pipes from one device to another – so both need to be connected and running the app for the transfer to happen. This is safer than a normal FTP service (like WeTransfer, DropBox and others of their ilk)  because you’re not transferring the file to a third-party’s server where security could be compromised. There’s no login – and yes it really is as simple to use as the above screenshot suggests. Just drop in files to send and you get a temporary 6-digit ‘Input Key’ that the recipient must enter into their device in order to access the download. There are a few peer-to-peer services like this around now – even popular messaging app, Whatsapp, lets you share images peer-to-peer. Send Anywhere’s selling point is it preserves the quality of image files while letting users send large batches of data – more than 100 photos or 2GB of videos at a time – so you’ll get the best possible results transferring your files securely.
