LIFE HACK: Always capture landscape orientation video on your smartphone

If you like filming videos on your smartphone, Horizon is a very useful app that avoids the frustration of capturing portrait orientation video, which is not great to share or view on a standard landscape TV or computer screen. The basic app automatically re-frames your shot as you film it to make sure you always capture a landscape orientation, as the video below explains far better than I could in text. The app is downloadable free on Android, and while the iOS version currently costs £1.49 if you wait until 1st March the devs tell me it will also be free [EDIT: the devs tell me they are experiencing delays putting the new, freemium app through the app store review process, so as of today (8/3/2015) it is still £1.49 on iOS devices with no firm date for the change].

Upgrading to Horizon Premium via in-app purchase provides extra features such as:

* 2K and Crisp video modes

* 60 and 120 FPS videos

* Watermark removal

* Save to Camera Roll & ‘Open In’

* Priority Support and access to future features.

If you already have Horizon you will have paid for it, as the app only recently switched over to the freemium model. In this case the developers tell me all of the premium features you already enjoy will remain free and active.
